I am happy to work with clients of any gender, and would encourage men to think carefully if they are uncomfortable about seeing a female therapist. It may be a rewarding and productive experience!
However, I do appreciate that for many men this is too difficult, and a male counsellor may be preferred in order to talk “man to man”. Our society puts a lot of pressure on men to be strong, to put on a brave face, to just “get on with it” – but we are human too, and we hurt, often without having been shown positive ways to deal with the hurt, other than anger, alcohol, or other coping strategies that seem acceptable to men. A male therapist can understand these issues from first hand experience (I have been there!)
My many years of experience show that I am particularly effective at working with men and I have helped many male clients find their way out of very dark places. I am easy to talk to and a pretty down to earth bloke, so if you feel you need someone to talk to and are looking for a male therapist in Manchester or online, do contact me to learn more about how counselling can help you and find out how to arrange an initial session.
I offer therapy for men regardless of their sexual orientation.
